Dr. Edward J. Hoffman, Director of the Biomedical Physics Interdepartmental Graduate Program, passed away July 1, 2004 at the UCLA Medical Center. Following are tributes to Dr. Hoffman memorializing his many contributions to the program and to the field of medical imaging, written by colleagues.

Dr. Michael Phelps is Chair of the Molecular and Medical Pharmacology, UCLA; Dr. Simon Cherry, a former post-doc of Dr. Hoffman’s, is Professor, Biomedical Engineering, UC Davis; and Dr. Paul Kinahan is Associate Professor, Radiology, University of Washington, and Associate Editor, IEEE TNS-NMIS.
